STETRA Gesellschaft für Schiffstransporte mbH was founded in 1993 as a logistics company specialising in inland tanker shipping. Today it is one of the largest logistics operators in this sector in Germany.

 
The owner-operated company was founded over 25 years ago and is located in the heart of the Rhine-Neckar region in Ludwigshafen. Since then, STETRA has made a name for itself as a capable and reliable partner for independent owner operators, distributors, manufacturers and storage companies. The experience gained from thousands of shipments and billions of tonne-kilometres form the foundation which our customers benefit from.

Company history

STETRA Gesellschaft für Schiffstransporte mbH was founded by Gerhard Schmitt and Otto Klohs in Ludwigshafen am Rhein on 1 December 1993.

A partnership concept for the German market was implemented in cooperation with STETRAG (Steelink-Transport-AG) in Basel, which was founded in 1984, and the then owner and namesake Paul Steelink.

STETRA Tankschiffahrt GmbH was founded in 2001 to optimise business and strategically expand the owner-operated company.

STETRA 1993 – in the first year

STETRA was founded with the goal to convince through quality and to supply customers along the Rhine in Germany.

STETRA 2018 – 25th anniversary

…a fleet with approx. 76,000 tons deadweight capacity

Thanks to our exceptional quality, we now also supply customers in Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, France and the Netherlands.
